Grey waterproof flooring in an Orlando, FL kitchen

Is luxury vinyl flooring waterproof?

Yes, luxury vinyl flooring is 100% waterproof flooring, and it will transform both your home and your life. This stunningly realistic echo of wood, stone, or tile is also affordable, durable, and easy to maintain and install.

Cores and waterproof flooring

Vinyl is inherently resistant to water. When it’s the luxury version, it has a core of vinyl composites, making it impervious to liquid. If, however, you want an even higher level of water and moisture protection, you can get it with a more advanced core that's thicker, denser and won't peel or ripple no matter how much water is exposed to or for how long.

The cores are called SPC (stone plastic composite) and WPC (wood plastic composite). The only difference between the two is how they feel underfoot; SPC is more rigid while WPC is softer, warmer, and more flexible. Both sometimes referred to as SPC or WPC floors
or "waterproof vinyl flooring" is excellent for kitchens, baths, and laundry rooms, but also so stylish you can use them anywhere you need some extra peace of mind.

Style and function

The material is luxury vinyl (LVF). An excellent way to think of this is: All SPC and WPC is luxury vinyl, but not all luxury vinyl is SPC or WPC. Therefore, you will always have LVF's style and function, but with a different core.

All images are taken with 3D photography. The floors are embossed to add depth, dimension, and textures and be cut into vinyl plank flooring or square tile-sized pieces. Often, some use luxury vinyl planks when mimicking stone looks and, since large format tiles are currently trending, many use it for that also.
