Beautiful Karastan carpet in an Orlando, FL home

Made in the USA: Karastan carpet

Karastan carpet was first manufactured during the Roaring Twenties when flappers and sheiks danced the night away in jazz clubs. Today, the word 'Karastan' is still synonymous with premium quality wool rugs, and the flooring is still produced in the USA. Carpeting is made on a specialized loom that, with the help of an advanced manufacturing process, is capable of making a machine-made rug look like a hand-woven rug. The Flooring Center has a large selection of Karastan products. We have two showrooms in Orlando, Florida, and one in nearby Lake Mary.

About Karastan

Karastan has a simple philosophy: each rug and carpet is an exquisitely crafted work of art. This premium flooring is known for its innovative designs that feature a wide variety of colors, textures, and patterns. The elegant and sophisticated designs are both contemporary and traditional. Colors range from neutral shades like beige and gray to bright and bold tones. The company manufactures carpet cushioning called Karastep, which extends the life of the carpet. It offers thermal insulation and noise suppression, keeps spills from damaging the floor, and creates a softer, more comfortable carpet.

Synthetic fibers

Karastan carpeting is backed by a 20-year abrasion warranty and a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Some of these high-end products are made of nylon, polyester, and polypropylene. Karastan often uses 'branded' fibers that are produced by other companies. These include ultraSTRAND, with Scotchgard Protector Advanced Repel technology, and SmartSTRAND, which has been engineered at the molecular level to resist stains.

Wool

Karastan is the largest manufacturer of worsted wool rugs in the United States. This type of wool is processed uniquely. The process makes longer fibers that are tightly wound to create a strong yarn. Also, only New Zealand wool is used. It's a superior fiber that undergoes rigorous quality control. Since it is naturally white, it easily accepts dye and retains it well too. Further, wool is a very durable fiber that has a natural resiliency.
